Sanford Bernstein win the 2004 Fidessa Invitation Challenge Cup
London, 1st July 2004 The picturesque setting of Leatherhead Golf Club was the venue for the first of these annual events which attracted strong teams from 13 brokerage firms from the UK and Europe.
The teams battled over 27 holes through a mixture of glorious sunshine, heavy showers and even hail. In the end the Sanford Bernstein team of David Wright, Ian Stapleford and Michelle Morris, captained by Chris Weston prevailed and get to keep the cup for a year. Hopefully they will return and defend their title in 2005.
Other prizewinners were:
Longest Drive - Neil Pickard (Deutsche Bank)
Nearest the Pin - Tim Williams (E-Trade)
Highest Individual Score - Tim Williams (E-Trade)
Texas Scramble - Morgan Stanley
Better Luck Next Time - Matt McNestry (Lehman Brothers)
The full list of competing teams were as follows:
ABN Amro, Deutsche Bank, E-Trade, Exane BNP Paribas, Goldman Sachs, HSBC Bank, Investec, Lehman Brothers, Man Financial, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley, Numis Securities and Sanford Bernstein.
Many thanks are due to all the teams for making the day such a success and we look forward to hosting the event again in 2005.
