Broad content of Role:
The role is based within the Hosted Business Unit division of the business. The role is responsible for establishing and maintaining customer connections to exchanges and other venues and also plays a part in upgrading Fidessa's Ticker Plant service providing market data, news and fundamentals.
The role is within the Hosted Exchanges Team. The team's work is essential for providing trading and market data to new and existing clients using our hosted software and ensuring that they are able to continuously adapt and develop their trading platform to meet rapid and continuous change in the financial services industry.
The role involves implementing and changing Fidessa and exchange software using Unix, TCL and network skills. Whilst previous experience in these areas would be ideal, it is not essential as training can be provided.
Key Requirements:
Essential:
Computer related or numerate degree or equivalent
Technically minded, enthusiastic and highly motivated
Aptitude for solving complex technical problems
Be able to adhere to complex and detailed procedures
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-tasking and prioritising work to consistently meet deadlines without compromising quality
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Organised, logical approach to work
Enjoy working as part of a team
Desirable:
Experience with UNIX or Linux
Knowledge of at least one programming or scripting language (eg Perl, Tcl, VB Script, Visual Basic)
Knowledge of local and wide area networks
Knowledge of financial markets
Duties and Responsibilities:
Implement and maintain connections from client systems to exchanges and other venues for trading and market data
Implementation work will typically include the following phases:
Technical analysis and specification
Implementation and configuration
Technical Testing
Support of User Acceptance Testing
Production rollouts
Upgrading Fidessa's Market Data Ticker Plant including liaising with other teams inside and outside Fidessa to resolve issues during rollout and testing
Technical procedures will need to be followed and the individual will have the opportunity to contribute to process improvement and updating related documentation.
Own a 'To Do' list and follow a schedule of work, keeping their line manager informed of progress on a regular basis.
Longer term, as your knowledge and experience develops and dependent on performance, there will be opportunities to:
Manage the delivery of specific projects
Manage the delivery of Ticker Plant upgrades from initial testing through to production rollout
Take responsibility for a particular exchange(s)
Coaching and mentoring of other team members
General Information:
The role holder will be expected to perform any other duties that may reasonably be asked of them
The role holder will be required to comply with the policies and procedures in place at all times
